Sara Swart, Operations Officer and Facilitation Team Leader
She works to improve overall operating procedures and facilitates MIDEGO’s various workshops and conferences.
Sara has a great commitment to community building and service as reflected by both her professional, volunteer, and personal experiences. A graduate from the University of New Hampshire where she earned a BA in geography, Sara comes to MIDEGO with experience living and working all over the United States. Her career began in Los Angeles where she worked as a Service-Learning Coordinator for a non-profit civics education foundation. She facilitated teacher trainings to help middle-school teachers incorporate service-learning curriculum into their classrooms and helped students develop and implement their own community projects throughout LA County. In Cambridge, MA she worked as an administrative assistant to the President of Radcliffe College/Harvard University, assuring efficient running of the office and effective communication between the President, school alumnae, donors and other University officials. Sara was also very active in her local community building a young families group in her church and supporting various charitable projects in her Air Force Base community. In Colorado she had extensive volunteer experience leading her church’s Vision and Mission Development committee and coordinating various outreach projects within the community. Here in VA she continues her commitment to service and community building by furthering MIDEGO’s mission of improving global public health “1% at a time.”
